France 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Serena had a good start but then she made some errors and Alize started to play better. Alize used many dropshots and
groundstrokes down the middle and to the sidelines to keep Serena on the run. Serena's serve also was below average in this match.
with Venus Williams, the Williams team retired from singles play after trailing 3-0 in the second round with what Serena said was a viral infection.

10.29.2013 ISTANBUL-- Serena Williams Sunday at Istanbul beat the fourth seeded Na Li of China 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 to win her 11th
singles title of the year. Williams is 78-4 for 2013. Early in the match, Serena made several errors and appeared physically tired, but she was
able to play better in sets two and three to run away with the match in the end; winning 12 of the last 15 games. Serena hit two aces in the
last game to save two breakpoints.
Serena Williams Beats Jelena Jankovic At Istanbul
10.26.2013 ISTANBUL-- Serena Williams Saturday at the WTA Tour Championships topped the 7th seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in
the semifinal round to reach tomorrow's final versus the 4th seeded Na Li. Serena appreared to be hampered for much of the match by a
possible back injury or possibly fatigue as her serve speeds dropped and her movement side to side on the baseline was at time limited. Serena
led 5-1 in the final set before closing out the match in two hours and seven minutes with an overhead winner on matchpoint four.
