01.18.2012 MELBOURNE-- Serena Williams, who has advanced into the third round in singles at the Australian Open, is also entered in
the mixed doubles draw with her fellow American Andy Roddick. This is most likely a cry to the US Olympic committee to allow Williams
and Roddick to represent the USA in this summer's Olympics. However the mixed draw was unkind as the Williams/Roddick team is to play
the top seeded team of Mike Bryan of the USA and Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic.
In round one at the Australian Open singles, Williams beat Tamira Paszek (AUT) 6-3, 6-3. Thursday in the second round,
Williams beat Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (CZE) 6-0, 6-4. In the third round, Williams takes on Greta Arn (HUN). Serena could meet
the second seeded Petra Kvitova (CZE) in the semifinals and the defending champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium in the the final.

non-WTA Tour match played outdoors on a claycourt at La Macarena bullring in Medellin. Positives to take away from the match are that Serena is
back on the tennis courts and looking forward to playing on the WTA Tour in 2012 and that she is playing better and better.
Serena Williams Falls In US Open Final
09.11.2011 NEW YORK-- Serena Williams was unable to play her best tennis today as Samantha Stosur did play her best to win the US Open
final 6-2, 6-3. Williams started to play better in the second set but was bothered but a point taken away from her to fall behind 0-1. The second
set remained close however Stosur seemed to connect with more winners than Serena as Serena appeared to possibly be struggling with her foot injury.
Serena also did not shake the chair umpire's hand after the match.
Serena Williams Down A Set In US Open Final
09.11.2011 NEW YORK-- Serena Williams moving slower than she has the past two weeks and committing more errors has fallen behind one set in
the women's final. In the second set, Serena has been playing better after losing a point due to shouting "come on" before the point was over.
Serena had a few words with the chair umpire during the changeover. Another problem is that Stosur is playing very well. Serena will need to
raise her level of play and cut her errors in order to win.
Serena Williams To Meet Caroline Wozniacki Tonight
09.10.2011 NEW YORK-- Serena Williams after winning two WTA Tour hardcourt tournaments this summer is on a 16 match winning streak going into
tonight's US Open semifinal versus the world number one Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. Serena leads Caroline head to head 2-0, but they have
not played each other since 2009. If Serena can keep her errors low and continue to serve well and hit a high number of baseline winners, she could
put herself into a good position to reach the final. Wozniacki would need to be more aggressive from the baseline than she normally is in order to
trouble Serena.
Serena Williams Loses In Wimbledon Fourth Round Match
07.04.2011 LONDON-- Serena Williams played three good matches at Wimbledon then finished a bit short in the fourth round at Wimbledon on the second Monday
of play. Serena lost to the 9th seeded Marion Bartoli of France 6-3, 7-6(8-6). Serena made some costly errors and could not keep up with the steady
play of Bartoli. With this loss, Serena is porjected to drop Monday in the WTA Tour's singles rankings to around number 180. Serena could need a
wildcard to compete at the US Open depending on her results in the lead-up hardcourt tournaments this summer.
Serena Williams Gets Tough Wimbledon First Round Match
06.18.2011 LONDON-- Serena Williams next week competes as the 7th seed at Wimbledon at London. Some good news as her sister Venus Williams is on the
other side of the singles draw; meaning the two sisters could only meet in the final round.
Serena's low seed comes as a result that she had only
played one tournament, Wimbledon in the past 52 weeks which resulted in a WTA Tour ranking of 26. Wimbledon seeded Serena 7, not 26 due to her past
grass results and her injury absence.
The bad news is Serena in the first round is to play Aravane Rezai of France, one of the hardest hitters on the WTA
Tour. Rezai has a win over Venus. Serena defeated the 61st ranked Frenchwoman 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals of Syndey
last January in their only prior meeting.
