Serena Williams Wins 29th Career Title At Bangalore
03.10.2008 BANGALORE-- Serena Williams Sunday at the Bangalore Open final defeated 4th seeded Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 7-5, 6-3 to win her first WTA Tour singles title of 2008. Williams dropped only one set for the week, Saturday versus her sister Venus Williams in the semifinals. For the title win, Williams won $95,000, 275 WTA Tour rankings points and her 29th career singles title.

"It was so nice being in India and winning the title made it even better," said Williams. "A week back I was not even sure I will be able to play, so to win my first title of the year makes it a very special visit."

Serena Williams To Meet Venus Williams In India
03.07.2008 BANGALORE-- Serena Williams Saturday faces her sister Venus Williams at the Bangalore Open semifinals. Head to head Serena is tied with Venus 7-7 and lost their last meeting at the 2005 US Open 7-6(7-5), 6-2. Serena will need to play some of her best tennis to advance to the final since Venus is playing well this week. In round one Serena was given a bye. In round two Serena defeated Tzipora Obziler 7-5, 6-0. In the quarterfinals Serena defeated Anastassia Rodionova 6-1, 6-4.
