07.20.2007 STANFORD-- Serena Williams, still bothered by a thumb injury, withdrew from the Bank of the West Classic Thursday. Williams has withdrawn from three tournaments since injuring her left thumb and calf at Wimbledon (Fed Cup, Cincinnati and Stanford). The event at Stanford begins Monday. "Even without Serena, the depth of this year's field is very strong," said tournament director Adam Barrett. "The overall balance from top-to-bottom should make for some very exciting tennis."

Injured Serena Williams Loses To Justine Henin
07.05.2007-- Serena Williams has lost to world number one Justine Henin 6-4 3-6 6-3 in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Serena who suffered a thumb and calf injury which limited her backhand and movement said she was "40 percent fit." Williams also withdrew from the doubles with her sister Venus Williams due to her injuries.

Serena Williams Faces Justine Henin In Quarterfinals
07.03.2007-- Serena Williams today tests her strained calf muscle against world number one Justine Henin in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. Head to head Serena leads 6-4. Serena lost their last meeting a few weeks ago at the French Open 6-4, 6-3. Monday Serena overcame a dramatic oncourt calf injury and helpful rain delay to defeat Daniela Hantuchova 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2. If Serena's calf is better I think she will win; if not Justine will steamroll.
